Lung Air Sacs (zip-Datei)
This is a 3D print file for a tactile model of alveoli (air sacs), which are part of the respiratory system at the end of the bronchioles. The model illustrates how oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the lungs and the blood during breathing. It is hollow and divided into two sections, allowing learners to explore both the exterior and interior structure. An alternative version is available as a single-piece model that shows only the outer structure and is easier to print. Versions with small holes for magnets are also included, enabling assembly with magnets instead of glue. The model was designed and tested as part of the 3D4VIP project. Printing instructions and tips: Two printing options are available. For a model with access to the internal structure, use the files Alveolus_p1-1.stl and Alveolus_p2-1.stl. In this case, support structures are recommended, and 1 mm high, 3 mm diameter magnets can be used to hold the parts together. If interior access is not required, the file Alveolus-2.stl can be printed as a single piece. This version usually does not require supports, although adding supports is recommended when using SLA printers to ensure good adhesion to the build plate.
