Tariffs

In recent months, tariffs have dominated news headlines and international relations. Their use is becoming increasingly common, but the benefits are controversial. Despite being relevant to the English Abitur exam topics about the U.S., globalization, interconnectedness and contemporary issues, there is currently very little classroom material available for students or teachers on the topic of tariffs. This worksheet, based on the original article “Everyone’s talking about tariff s,” written for Business Spotlight magazine, has been created specifically for students in years 11–13 of the German school system and, therefore, includes task types that will help students prepare for the Abitur and other final exams. The article is written at a high B2 level and has a glossary on each page to help students with the more advanced vocabulary.
